Welcome! We are excited that you would like to deepen your commitment to ending domestic violence in lesbian, bisexual women’s, and transgender communities.

The Network La/Red is currently focused on enhancing organizational structure, strengthening financial sustainability, developing a long-term strategic plan, building capacity, and increasing visibility. Our Board of Directors seeks applicants with the passion, drive, and commitment to help realize these goals. Applicants should have a strong interest and/or skill set in fundraising, strategic planning, budgeting, program development, building bridges across communities, and event planning.

We ask you to convey your experience and skills with us by answering the following questions. Any personal information you choose to share will be kept confidential.

Experience

1. Why are you interested in joining The Network/La Red Board of Directors?

2. The Network La/Red is seeking board members with a skill set and/or interest in fundraising, strategic planning, organizational structure, and publicity. Please share your background in these areas and describe how your presence would support these goals.

3. What areas of board work interest you most, and why? (Areas include fundraising, budget work, building community connections, personnel matters, board development, etc.) Are there any skills you hope to learn as part of your board experience?

4. What previous volunteer work have you done? Have you ever served on a board of directors? If so, please describe your role.

5. To what other community organizations do you belong? What role do you play in their work (as member, volunteer, staff, etc.)?

6. Are you comfortable committing to five to ten hours of board work each month (including meetings)? Are you comfortable committing to a board term of two years?

While most of us experience some form of oppression, many of us also hold some privilege, whether class, race, religion, language, ability, age, gender identity, etc. Have you dealt with situations in which someone has made you aware of privilege you hold or oppressive comments or actions you have made? Please describe what topics have come up for you and how you have dealt with them.
