What is an advocate?

A trained staff person that provides support, has connections with GLBT organizations and mainstream systems, and assists with accessing information and referrals for people.

How can an advocate assist me?

  • Provide support, crisis intervention, information, and referrals on the hotline or in person.
  • Assist with safety planning.
  • Accompany you to court.
  • Assist with victim compensation.
  • Assist with accessing medical, legal, housing, or other social services.

Does it cost anything?

No.

How can I contact an advocate?

You call The Network/La Red Hotline, 617-423-SAFE (7233) v/tty, and ask to speak with an advocate.

The project was supported by the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance through a Victims of Crime Act of 1984 (VOCA) grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.
