Needed! | VDay
is coming to Boston
Not only will the cast perform The Vagina Monologues but additional monologues "For the "Comfort Women", about the young women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese government during WWII and "They Beat the Girl out of my Boy or So They Tried," written in 2004 by Ensler after interviewing transgender women about their experiences with violence. V-Day
is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst
that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize
the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. Through benefit performances
of "The Vagina Monologues," unique documentary film projects and innovative
gatherings designed to change social attitudes toward violence, V-Day generates
broader attention for the fight to stop worldwide violence against women and girls
including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sexual slavery.
In its first seven years, the V-Day movement has raised over $25 million. The
'V' in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina. Thanks
to all those who have donated to V-Day Boston!
