Types of opportunities:
- Safe Home Provider- volunteer provide a few nights stay to allow LBT folks breathing space, time, and a safe place to develop the best plan for where to go next.
- Hotline- volunteer provides emotional support, information, and safety planning for lesbians, bisexual women, and transgender folks who are being abused or have been abused by a partner. We also offer information and support to friends, family, or co-workers on the issue of domestic violence in lesbian, bisexual women's, and transgender communities.
- Advocate- volunteer provide short-term counseling, court accompainment, information, and referrals for legal/criminal justice services.
- Outreach and Education- volunteer provides education and information about LBT partner abuse and The Network/La Red's services through a variety of ways.
- Internships- An internship at The Network/La Red can compliment and enhance a college degree program. Not only does an intern gain experience working on a project, but also gain the knowledge of working in a small non-profit. All internships are unpaid.
The Network/La Red provides initial 40 hour training. Volunteer meeting is once a month for supervision and in-service training. All volunteers of The Network/La Red participate in our free training program. Aside from discussing the dynamics of LGBT partner abuse, the training covers issues such as oppression, crisis intervention, counseling skills, and legal issues.
